Dear Parents and Room 16 Students,
WOW!!! What a fantastic voyage through time!  Your "lads" worked hard on our overnight (and they definitely do know how to wash dishes, scrub the deck, work together to achieve a common goal, row a longboat, keep track of time...) and I hope they squeezed in a well-deserved rest this weekend.  A very big THANK YOU goes to our wonderful Tall Sailors who gave up two days of work and had to sleep on either the wooden bunks or floor (not to mention getting up in the middle of the night to supervise night watch)!  This was a huge sacrifice and we greatly appreciate your time.  Thank you, Ms. Warsinger, Mrs. DeSantiago, Ms. Rose, Mrs. Titterington, Mrs. Heidenreich, Mr. Tom, and Mr. Garcia - we couldn't have done it without you!
We've gotten through half of our CST tests.  This is our final week so I truly hope that everyone stays healthy these first three days.  We'll have Language Arts part 2 today, and Math parts 1 and 2 on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Again, Mr. Painter has requested no homework during this time, so we will work on our Newbery Newspapers in class.  I'm hoping that they will be completed by Friday.  The finished product is always spectacular and I hope to have them up by next Tuesday for Open House!

I know that there are quite a few concerts coming up.  Good luck to all of our musicians and choir members!  We'll begin our last project of the year this week - the American Heroes presentations.  Students will choose an American Hero, research him/her, write a paper about this person, and then become this person the night of June 6.  I hope you will all be able to be there!

If you have any questions, please send a note, e-mail, or just call.  Thanks for all that you do for your children!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Barretto
